Overview

We designed and supported an Amazon ECS-based application architecture deployed within a dedicated VPC in the us-east-1 region, integrating ECS Fargate for containerized workloads with RDS MySQL for data storage.

Architecture

End-user traffic routed through Cloudflare WAF, then enters via Internet Gateway. Application services deployed on Amazon ECS using AWS Fargate within private subnets. Outbound internet access through NAT Gateways. Amazon RDS MySQL in multi-AZ private subnets for availability.

CI/CD & Configuration

  • Source code managed in GitHub with container images stored in ECR.
  • Application configuration values stored in AWS Systems Manager Parameter Store.
  • Securely injected into ECS tasks at runtime.
  • Rollback via ECS task definition revisions and service deployment configurations.

Security Controls

  • Cloudflare WAF for edge-level request filtering.
  • Network isolation using private and intra subnets.
  • AWS KMS encryption at rest for RDS and S3.
  • Secure parameter management via Systems Manager Parameter Store.
  • Centralized logging through CloudWatch.
