Overview

Zime.ai is a generative AI platform that empowers revenue teams with just-in-time guidance. As enterprise customers expanded, GCP Cloud SQL infrastructure began hitting IOPS ceilings during end-of-quarter sales rushes.

The Challenge

The existing GCP database architecture struggled with dual burden of heavy write-operations and complex read-operations. Latency spikes were unpredictable. The monolithic approach meant analytics queries could slow down the live coaching app.

Architecture Rebuilt

• AWS 3-Tier VPC strategy with four production-grade Amazon RDS for MySQL clusters in Multi-AZ.
• Amazon ElastiCache (Redis) for caching frequent context lookups in microseconds.
• Amazon OpenSearch Service for log analysis and vector search.
• Cloudflare with WAF and Certificate Manager at the edge for DDoS protection.

Zero-Downtime Migration

Used AWS Database Migration Service (DMS) to replicate data continuously from GCP Cloud SQL to the new RDS clusters via a private link between the clouds. Terraform spun up the entire 3-tier environment in identical staging and production setups. Blue/Green deployment enabled a seamless DNS flip via Cloudflare.

Results

• 99.99% uptime during peak traffic.
• API responses consistently under 100ms.
• RTO under 15 minutes, RPO under 5 minutes.
